Until 6 September, the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal host the Porto Book Fair, which celebrates its 13th edition in 2026 and pays tribute to poet Inês Lourenço. 4 and 5 September | Avenida dos Aliados 

On 4 and 5 September, music arrives at one of Porto city centre’s most iconic spaces with A Casa nos Aliados. On the 4th, Avenida dos Aliados hosts Som da Rua na Avenida 2026. The following day, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música presents the Concerto de Ópera nos Aliados, featuring excerpts from works such as The Barber of Seville, Werther and Carmen. Admission to both concerts is free.

On 11 and 12 September, Noites dos Jardins do Palácio returns. The 2026 line-up brings together Pedro Abrunhosa, Tiago Nacarato and Rita Rocha on the 11th. The following day, T-Rex, Bárbara Bandeira and Nenny take to the stage. It is a good opportunity to combine a late afternoon in the gardens with an evening of live music without leaving the city. 

Porto Pride returns from 11 to 13 September 

11–13 September | Various locations 

The second weekend of the month also brings Porto Pride 2026, taking place on 11, 12 and 13 September. The programme unfolds across different areas of Porto. On the 11th, the Summit takes place at the Pequeno Auditório of Teatro Rivoli. On the 12th, the Festival moves to Largo Amor de Perdição, in Cordoaria, with further activities taking place throughout the weekend. It is another opportunity to discover different parts of the city centre during the same stay, many of them easily accessible on foot from Rua do Almada. 

A Sunday by the Douro with the Porto Half Marathon 

13 September | Porto 

On Sunday, 13 September, the Douro once again provides the setting for the Hyundai Porto Half Marathon, which reaches its 19th edition in 2026. The race follows stretches of the Douro riverfront and is one of the major sporting events on the city’s calendar. 

Even if you are not taking part, it can be a good reason to start Sunday by the river and enjoy the atmosphere before continuing your day in Porto. Afterwards, you can return to the centre, have lunch in Ribeira and carry on exploring the city during the afternoon. 

Rivoli opens a new season 

18 and 19 September | Rivoli 

September also marks the start of a new cultural season. On 18 and 19 September, Teatro Municipal do Porto marks the opening of its 2026/2027 season with a range of events at Rivoli. Among the announced highlights is the Portuguese premiere of A SEXUAL HISTORY OF THE INTERNET, by artist and technologist Mindy Seu, on 18 September. 

Rivoli is right in Baixa and can easily be included in a day exploring the centre: Bolhão, Santa Catarina, Aliados and the theatre can all form part of the same route. 24–27 September | Parque de Serralves 

From 24 to 27 September, Parque de Serralves hosts the third edition of BOIL – Climate Festival.
